New Year's Weekend

We have some amazing friends who invited us up to their cabin for New Year's weekend.  We went up Friday after Mike got off work.  It was so fun to hang out with them.  Alice gets along with their little dog named Charlie.  We always tease that they are a cute little old couple.

It is so cute because they are together all the time.  If one goes somewhere the other immediately follows.

We went tubing and played a million games.  We love playing games.  I think we all took turns winning.

Here are the sleepy dogs on New Year's eve.  They were so tired from playing all day long.

We had so much fun.  Thanks for the invite!  We have such good friends.

Resolution -1

I realize it has been forever since I posted anything personal on this blog (seriously I am lame!)  I know it is traditional to set New Years resolutions so of course one of mine is to be more on top of things and be more organized.

I am proud to say that this past Saturday Mike and I cleaned out our basement.  It was an all day project.  Our basement is unfinished and we don't usually use it for anything so if we have extra boxes or don't know where to put something it usually gets shoved in the black hole called the basement.  It is sad that we had a few boxes that we haven't even looked at in the three years we have lived in our house.

Mike has decided to call Hoarders and tell them that I have a problem with keeping empty boxes.  As you can see in the picture we have a few of them. (yes most of them are broken down!)  If anyone needs boxes or knows someone who does let me know!

It was so fun to go through all of our old things, year books, old collections, pictures, journals.  I loved to sit and look through everything.  Mike was down to business and hurried through everything while I just wanted to reminisce.

I am excited to have the basement clean and organized.  We bought a lot of tupperware to organize everything.  We are using our old dvd cabinets to organize a bunch of our books.  Since Mike made me such awesome cabinets for Christmas, it was nice to find another use for the old cabinets.

Our basement is partially framed so we organized everything into rows in one of the 'rooms'.  Mike is going to set up a little 'studio' in the main part of the basement, we really get a lot of light down there.

Well one resolution down, up next craft room!

Christmas

This year as usual I sucked at taking pictures.  I forgot my camera for the annual Harwood Christmas Eve party, so sorry no pictures from there!  We had a lot of fun though.  We had a blast with everyone, we played games, had wonderful food.  Brad gave a great spiritual thought that meant a lot to me.  I really love Mike's family and I am so blest to have great in-laws.  The only downfall about the holiday season was I got sick the Wednesday before Christmas and stayed sick for two weeks.  I still have a cough that won't go away!!

The next morning we got up around 9 am to open presents and get ready to go to my parents house.  Earlier that morning Mike got up at 6 am to let Alice out and saw everyone's lights on already.  I guess that is one good thing about not having kids we didn't have to get up early on Christmas!  We had a smaller Christmas, at least that is what I thought.  Mike went all out and made some awesome DVD cabinets.  He is so good at everything he does!  Seriously these cabinets are amazing!  Later that night we got them put up in the bedroom for now and loaded them.  I don't know whether to be proud or embarrassed by how many DVDs we have!

We also got Alice a present.  It is so cute because she actually opens it.  She won't play with the toy until all of the wrapping paper is off.  (I know we are lame!)

After Mike and I opened presents we went to church with my parents at 11:00.  The sound system went out at their church and Peter Breinholt brought his sounds system for church, he is in my parents stake.  The whole meeting was a big concert with choirs singing, Peter Breinholt performing, intrumental performances.  It was amazing, it was fun to just sit back and enjoy the spirit and the joy of music!

After we got back from church we opened presents with my parents.  Poor Hayden had to wait that long to open any of his presents!  I think overall everyone enjoyed their presents.  It was fun to watch Hayden get excited about the present we got for him.  He is such a stud!

Later that night Aaron called.  It was so fun to get to talk to him.  I am so proud of him for serving a mission.  He is awesome and such a good example of following God and doing what you are supposed to.

Overall it was a great day (other than being sick!)  I love both of my families and my amazing husband.

Auditory Deliciousness - All I Ever Wanted

I know it has been forever since I have posted anything, let alone a video.  Well I recently discovered The Airborne Toxic Event.  I have heard their songs on the radio but didn't have a name to go with the music.  I heard this song 'All I Ever Wanted' on the radio and went on a search to find out who was singing.  One of the main things I love in a song is any sort of violin, cello, bass, etc.  I guess that is why I love Yellowcard so much.

On a side note if I could learn any instrument in the world it would definitely be the cello.  Mike thinks I am weird but seriously I love the sound.
