Telling the Family

We decided we wanted to tell everyone in a fun creative way.  Mike came up with the idea to get a family picture and instead of having everyone say 'cheese'  he would say 'everyone say Erica's pregnant!'  We waited a couple of weeks, until I was six weeks along.  We told my parents on the Saturday before Easter and Mike's parents the next day on Easter.  It was a fun way to tell them because we were able to get their reactions on camera.  A fun side note.  The morning we found out we were pregnant when Mike still thought we weren't he was emailing Aaron on his mission to tell him to send me a supportive email.  I called him in the middle of it to tell him we really were pregnant so he ended up telling Aaron about it.  It was fun to have Aaron know before anyone else.

Pregnant

We had been trying to get pregnant for four years.  In December 2011 we decided to try artificial insemination.  It didn't work.  That was really hard.  It took another few months to save up and for us to be emotionally ready to try again.  In March we tried again and it worked!  On March 26, 2012 we found out that we were pregnant.  It is actually kind of a funny story.  I took a pregnancy test that morning but I didn't want to look at it, I was so tired of seeing negative pregnancy tests I didn't think I could handle another one, so I had Mike look at it.  He told me it was negative.  I was super depressed and went back to bed and cried for awhile.  I had to get up and get ready for work, I started dressing and walked by the pregnancy test.  There were two lines!  One of them was really faint but it was there.  I was really surprised and couldn't believe what I was seeing!  Apparently Mike thought the two lines had to be the same color for it to be positive.  I am so glad he was wrong!

So Grateful

I can't tell you how grateful I am to have Jonas in my life.  We waited four years for him to come.  We are so lucky to have him in our lives.  I will be honest and say I don't know why we had to wait so long for him to come but it was worth the wait.  I feel so blessed to have this little guy.  

I love this picture.  He makes that face a lot, especially when you surprise him and he is trying to figure out what is going on.

I can't believe how long it has been since I have posted anything. So we are going to start out slow.

I am so in love with this handsome boy. He has been so much fun. Just look how cute he is when he sleeps!
